Lindsay: Artist Identity & Campaign Strategy

This project was one I completed during the fall semester of 2019 in my Visual Design & Art Direction class. The framework and deliverables were very open-ended; we had to choose a project we had already completed in the class and expand it. The project I expanded upon was a music interview editorial spread. I chose to develop a whole identity for a musical artist, Lindsay, and also the strategy to promote her upcoming album release. (I chose to use my sister, who is, in fact, a talented musician, but has yet to release an album.)

Creative brief: “The new and upcoming artist, Lindsay, needs a visual identity & a promotional campaign strategy for her upcoming album, Civil War. Social media promotion, print collateral, and merchandise are all requested media. The intended audience for this campaign is teenage & college-age individuals.”

Theme requested: upbeat, colorful, minimal

“Music, especially as an adolescent, helps to build identity because that’s when people start developing a sense of self. You can kind of tell based on what music a person listens to what kind of person they’ll be pretty much for the rest of their life.”
